Alyssa Arredondo, MS

Alyssa Arredondo (she/her) is a 3rd-year Counseling Psychology doctoral student at Our Lady of the Lake University and a practicum student at Alivio Psychological Services. She specializes in working with minoritized populations, individuals experiencing life transitions, racial trauma, and microaggressions. She employs a strengths-based, solution-focused, and decolonial approach to empower young adults in navigating mental health challenges.

Her assessment interests include ADHD assessments and diagnostic clarification, taking a neurodivergent-affirmative approach. Alyssa has also recently discovered her place within the neurodivergent community, enriching her counseling and assessment approaches with additional empathy.

Alyssa's values wholeheartedly align with affirming the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating diverse backgrounds, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, and advocating for social justice.

Additionally, she is being trained in immigration evaluations for court proceedings and looks forward to supporting clients from diverse backgrounds learn about their mental health.

Locally, Alyssa serves as the student representative for the Bexar County Psychological Association. Nationally, she's an active member of APA and holds leadership roles in Divisions 35 and 17. In APA's Positive Psychology Section, Alyssa is also the Campus Representative for Our Lady of the Lake University.
